Anemone coronaria 'Harmony Double Scarlet'

Anemone coronaria 'Harmony Double Scarlet' is a delightful addition to gardens across the UK, known for its vibrant early spring blooms and minimal care requirements. This perennial plant stands out with its compact growth habit and striking flowers, making it a versatile choice that complements various garden designs. The double-layered scarlet-red petals, accented by soft, creamy white centres, create a stunning visual display from March to April. The finely cut, mid-green foliage not only enhances the overall aesthetic but also provides a lush backdrop for the vivid blooms, making it an ideal candidate for borders, containers, and rock gardens alike.Thriving in full sunlight, this plant flourishes when planted in well-drained loamy or sandy soil, and incorporating organic matter such as compost can significantly boost its fertility and drainage capabilities. While regular watering is crucial during the growing season, it is important to avoid waterlogging to ensure the plant's health. Once established, Anemone coronaria 'Harmony Double Scarlet' can withstand moderate drought conditions, making it relatively low-maintenance. To encourage robust growth and a profusion of flowers, applying a balanced fertilizer in early spring is recommended. Additionally, deadheading spent blooms will promote ongoing flowering, and cutting back the stems to ground level after blooming prepares the plant for its dormant phase. In spring, a layer of mulch around the base can help retain moisture, suppress weeds, and regulate soil temperature, while a thicker layer during winter protects the roots from frost. This hardy plant can endure temperatures as low as -15°C to -10°C, making it suitable for most UK regions. In areas with particularly harsh winters or wet conditions, it may be wise to lift the tubers after the foliage dies back and store them in a cool, dry place until it's time to replant in the spring.Height: 45cm (18in).
