Argyranthemum frutescens 'Aramis Red Improved'

Argyranthemum frutescens ?Aramis Red Improved?, affectionately known as Aramis Red, is a charming plant that can elevate the beauty of any garden. This marguerite daisy is particularly admired for its compact growth habit and its ability to produce an abundance of striking deep red flowers, each featuring a cheerful yellow centre. These vibrant blooms create a captivating display from late spring all the way through early autumn, making it a standout choice for gardeners. Its adaptability allows it to thrive in a variety of settings, whether in containers, as part of bedding arrangements, or in gardens designed to attract pollinators. The plant itself forms a neat, bushy mound, adorned with finely divided, aromatic grey-green leaves that provide a lovely backdrop to its colourful flowers.Aramis Red flourishes best in full sun and well-drained soil, and once established, it demonstrates moderate drought tolerance, making it a low-maintenance option for busy gardeners. To maintain its compact shape and encourage even more prolific blooming, regular deadheading or occasional trimming is advisable. This practice not only enhances the plant's visual appeal but also promotes its overall health and vigor throughout the growing season. Beyond its aesthetic contributions, Aramis Red is instrumental in fostering biodiversity, as its plentiful flowers attract a variety of pollinators, including bees and butterflies, enriching the garden's ecosystem. While it can be enjoyed as an annual or a short-lived perennial in the UK, those in colder climates may need to provide some protection or lift the plant to ensure it survives the winter months.
