Blueberry 'Osorno'

Early to mid-season variety (July).Blueberry ‘Osorno’ is a vigorous, highly productive variety that is popular with commercial growers. High yields of medium-sized, light blue fruit with good flavour and firmness and only a small picking scar. Very tolerant of hot summers. Semi-upright plant with numerous canes and fruit well exposed for easy harvesting. Not as winter-hardy as Draper. A good selection for warmer areas of the UK.Blueberries are packed with health-boosting compounds and are especially delicious in pies, muffins and jams. These sturdy shrubs not only produce high crops of berries, but make attractive features for acidic borders or large patio containers filled with ericaceous compost. In spring they bear masses of sweetly scented creamy white flowers, followed by fiery crimson foliage in the autumn. Self-fertile, but like all Blueberries it will produce its best crops if grown with another Blueberry to increase pollination.Height: 1.8m (6ft).
