Mahonia 'Volcano'

Fiery-coloured flowers and soft foliage makes Mahonia ‘Volcano’ a stand-out variety.Mahonia ‘Volcano’ flowers early, its vivid, coppery-red buds opening from October to November and bursting into golden yellow flowers, creating an exciting combination of orange and yellow shades. Similar to the award-winning Mahonia ‘Soft Caress’, ‘Volcano’ has the same spine-free, soft, slender leaflets, with shoots emerging bronze in the spring before maturing to silvery-green. This compact shrub only reaches around a modest 70cm high, making it perfect for smaller gardens. Low maintenance, disease-free and robust, it survives in sun or semi-shade and is unfussy about soil type. Mahonia ‘Soft Caress’ is an excellent structural shrub for all-season interest in mixed borders and containers. When planted en masse, it provides attractive evergreen groundcover for woodland-type borders providing all-season foliage colour and texture plus colourful flowers. Height: 70cm (28in).
