Passiflora edulis 'Frederick' is a fast growing evergreen climber, potentially reaching 9m (29ft). The unusual, wispy fronds on the white and purple blooms make an unusual change from normal passion flowers and these will cover his plant from late spring onwards. The flowers will later produce yellow/orange fruit in the autumn to further extend the range on interest. Grow in large containers on the pation, trained up an obelisk, so that it can be moved indoors to a greenhouse or conservatory over the winter.Height: 8m (26?). Spread: 2m (6.5?).Culinary note: The fruits of passiflora are edible, albeit somewhat unremarkable in taste. They can be used in preserves and desserts. P. edulis, grown under glass will produce the best fruit for eating.
