Send All Year Interest Shrubs
3 stunning compact shrubs have been put together in a wonderful collection to offer colour and interests each and every month! Japanese Blossom Cherry Prunus Kojo-No-MaiAlso known as the Fuji Cherry, this gorgeous, compact shrub will burst into flower before the leaves appear in late winter / early spring each year. They start as red buds which appear to almost dance around the branches, but then open to reveal beautiful pale-pink flowers, each with a red centre. Perfect for small garden or growing in a pot on your patio, Kojo-No-Mai even provides autumn interest when its green leaves turn from green to bright reddish / orange before falling. The statuesque form of the tree is also a joy to observe on frosty mornings when a haw-frost shows it off to its very best.Kojo-No-Mai is fully winter hardy whatever the weather and grows to just 250cm after 10 years if left un-pruned, but will be happy to receive a regular trim during early summer after flowering has finished.Supplied as an established plant in a 19cm pot, ready to plant out
Nandina 'Fire Power'One of the finest shrubs you can grow for spectacular winter colour from both leaves and red berries - this is a plant that should be in everyone's winter garden. Also known as the sacred or heavenly bamboo, Nandina is totally winter-hardy and tough as old boots! With a bamboo-like habit, several upright stems emerge from a tight clump of leaves which in spring and summer is mid-green with the odd reddish or purplish tinge on new shoots. It produces small white flowers, but it really comes into its own as the temperatures drop in autumn. The leaves turn spectacular bonfire orange red, perfect for Halloween and autumn colour, and keep getting darker red as it gets colder. The flowers have given way to berries, much like our own much-loved holly, which themselves get redder and redder too, so the whole plant is a frenzy of colour in full winter.Great as a specimen in a pot, so you can move it near the door to lift your spirits on dark days, or equally at home in the soil in a mixed border planting. In Japan, it is traditionally grown near a door, so if you awake from a nightmare, you can tell your Nandina about your dream so that it cannot harm you!Supplied as an established plant in a 2L pot ready for planting out or potting into your favourite container!
Cornus 'Midwinter Fire'Also known as the Bloody dogwood or bloodtwig on account of its glowing winter colour, Cornus 'Midwinter Fire', is one of the best for colour, being much prized for its vibrant orange-flushed red stems.Widely grown as ornamental plants, dogwoods are a subtle, underestimated garden staple which come into their own when their leaves change colour in a glorious display in autumn, falling to reveal the flame-coloured branches so popular with gardeners.Fully winter hardy, dogwoods are a popular shrub for any garden or even a large container as they are fairly unfussy and are both easy to grow and low maintenance, with a long season of interest - all year round! In spring, dogwoods bust into bloom with heads of dainty white flowers that are a magnet to butterflies and bees. These are followed in late summer by black berries that will attract all manner of birds into your garden. You can be sure that this is a proven garden performer, guaranteed to be suitable for UK gardeners at every level of experience. You can therefore plant this in the garden with confidence, for stunning displays for many years to come.Grow in sun or partial shade, but be aware that dogwood produces the best stem colour when grown in full sun.Supplied as an established plant in a 19cm pot, ready to plant out
